Follow Up Boss Import FAQ This article answers frequently asked questions about importing contacts into your FUB account.

Q: Will I lose data when I move my contacts over to Follow Up Boss?

A: When importing contacts, you can choose what you want (or don't want) to keep.The way the system works is likely different than the system you are coming from. There might be data that doesn't map directly to a specific data field in Follow Up Boss. If there is not an appropriate field to map to within Follow Up Boss, it will be added in as a Custom Field.Common Field Definitions in Follow Up Boss

Q: What if I have notes for my contacts, will these get transferred over?

A: This will be left as a note in the contact record. We recommend placing more general data in this field, and creating custom tags to keep special cases organized.


Q: What if I have duplicate contacts or a contact already exists in FUB?

A: FUB will merge contacts based on the following criteria:

  1. If email address matches, it will combine the contact info

  2. If phone number AND name matches, it will combine the contact info


Q: What systems can I import contacts from?

A: As long as your contacts are exported in a CSV format, they can be imported from any CRM System, Phone or Mail Contacts.


Q: What is a CSV file?

A: A CSV (comma separated value) file is a common data format for imports and exports. Most CRM's will automatically export with this file format.


Q: Who will the contacts be assigned to?

A: By default the contacts will be assigned to you. If you have an assigned agent column, with the full name of the agent (matching what is in our system), then it will be assigned to that specific agent. Don't worry if it doesn't get assigned correctly, you can always reassign contacts after the import!


Q: Why should I have all my contacts in Follow Up Boss?


A: While not all contacts might be active right now, that doesn't mean you should just forget about them. Discover and engage your past leads using our smart lists.


Q: Can I put all of the contacts I import in an email blast?


A: Yes you can. The contacts will be grouped for email blasts by their tags in Brain.
