When you log in to your email tool, the first tab you will see is your "Smart View."
The purpose of Smart View is to give you a sense of your overall email health. This includes:
- How many emails you've sent in a given time period
- What your average open rate is
- What your average click through rate is
- How many people you are touching with your emails
- Which emails are performing the best for you
The default time frame that is displayed is 7 days. However, if you'd like to see your email health for a different time period, simply select one of the options in the top right hand corner
Let's dig deeper into each section:
Number of emails sent: The number of emails you have sent in the selected time period
Average open rate: Calculates how many email recipients open your email(s) as compared to the total number of emails delivered
Average click rate: Calculates how many email recipients click a link in your email(s) as compared to the total number of emails delivered
The circle graph provides a visual representation. Of the people who have received your email(s) in the selected time period, how many of them opened it, clicked a link in it (if applicable), didn't open it, or unsubscribed.
Total Recipients: The number of people who received your email(s) in their inbox
Unopened: The number of recipients who did not open your email(s)
Opened (Unique): The distinct number of distinct* recipients who opened your email(s)
*If the same person opens your email several times, it's only counted once.
Clicked (Unique): The number of distinct* recipients who clicked at least one link in your email(s)
*If the same person clicks a link in your email several times, it's only counted once.
Unsubscribed: A recipient has opted to remove their email address from your mailing list so as not to receive any further emails or communications
This section provides insight into how many recipients on your list actually received the email in their inbox (aka the email was delivered)
Total sent: The number of people your email has successfully been dispatched from Curaytor to be delivered to
Delivered: The number of people your email has been successfully delivered to
Why isn't my deliverability 100%?
While we strive to achieve 100% deliverability, it’s not something that’s realistic. A 100% deliverability rate means the email not only makes it to the subscriber, it also lands in the inbox.
The number one factor that affects your deliverability is the quality of your email audiences. If you’re sending to an engaged audience and keep your list healthy, the deliverability rate will increase. Contrary to popular belief, a larger email list does not equate to better results. The more bounces and spam folders you hit, the worse your reputation becomes.
Other factors include:
- Email client updates
- Email address changes
Total opens: The total of all opens for your email(s)
Unique opens: The number of distinct individuals that opened your email(s)
For example, if your email is opened by a particular recipient 20 times, that would count towards your totals as 20 total opens and towards your unique opens as 1 unique open.
Total clicks: The total of all clicks for your email campaign
Unique clicks: The number of distinct individuals that clicked on a link your email(s)
For example, if your email has 3 different links in it and a recipient clicks all 3 links in your email once, this counts as 3 unique clicks, and 3 total clicks.
However, if this recipient clicks on the first link 10 times, this counts as one unique click, and 10 total clicks.
The "Top Perfomers" section is meant to give you a glimpse into what's working and driving results for you.
